Tool Loan Program
If you are planning a do-it-yourself home improvement, repair or home maintenance project and need tools to get the job done, stop by the Tool Loan Center. The Tool Loan Program can lend you the tools you need to complete your project.
Our Tool Loan Center provides a low cost alternative for finding the tools you need. The Center stocks a wide variety of hand and power tools from screwdrivers, hammers and pipe wrenches to sanders, saws, ladders, wheel barrows and much more. Nonprofit organizations that are working to improve local neighborhoods can borrow tools to complete community clean ups, beautification or maintenance projects. Why buy the tools you need? Contact the Tool Loan Center for details or to sign up.
Membership is easy, just stop by and sign up! Download, complete and return the Membership Application today.
The annual fee membership fee is $25 or $20 for those 62 years and older.

Minor Home Repair
Maintaining your home is an important responsibility of being a homeowner. This program is intended to provide home repair grants to assist low and moderate income homeowners who experienced financial distress and deferred maintenance on their residential single and two unit owner occupied properties located in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha Counties.

Property Tax Rescue Assistance
The purpose of this program is to provide education, support and resources to assist low and moderate income City of Milwaukee homeowners who are facing tax delinquency or tax foreclosure due to involuntary financial hardships. It provides up to a $3,000 match to qualified homeowners to assist in paying property taxes.

Post purchase education workshops provide you with information that is intended to help you protect your investment and ensure a smooth transition from renting to owning.

Post Purchase Counseling
We want to provide you with the support to remain a successful homeowner!
Post purchase counseling will teach you about the responsibilities of homeownership. You want to make one of your largest investments, work for you. HRI has experienced and certified Homeownership Preservation Specialists who will work with you one-on-one; share their expertise; and help you retain your home.
We can assist you with:
- Techniques to resolve credit issues
- Home improvement options- Loans and/or Grants
- Obtaining home equity loans
- Purchasing a second home
- Other aspects of homeownership in which you need support
Default Counseling – Foreclosure Prevention
If you have fallen behind on your mortgage or are in danger of becoming delinquent, we can help you navigate your way through the process of saving your home. You are not alone! Our certified Homeownership Specialists understand how to work with your lender or mortgage company, and will work with you to help you avoid foreclosure. We can help you understand your options. Our Specialists can provide you with face-to-face or over the telephone counseling. Our main goal is to help you save your home!
The services provided include:
- Assessing the reasons for delinquency
- Preparing hardship letters
- Developing a repayment plan proposals
- Providing Direct dialogue with your lender(s)
- Completing loan modification applications
- Negotiating forbearance agreements
- Reinforcing homeowner rights and responsibilities
- Teaching money management and budgeting
- Providing resources to help you sell your home
- Identifying referral sources in the community
- Offering Reverse Mortgage counseling for seniors
Reverse Mortgage Counseling
If you are considering a Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) get the facts!
Housing Resources, Inc. has a certified Reverse Mortgage Counselor that can provide you with the information you need to make an educated decision. You can learn about the eligibility guidelines, benefits and drawbacks associated with this type of mortgage.
